11/8/25 To the one, Victory

Jesus addresses the 7 churches in the 2 & rd ch. of Revelation & we can learn much from this. Last week covered 2:26 This wk V27, which is all one sentence.

Revelation 2:26-28 To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations— ²⁷ that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’—just as I have received authority from my Father. ²⁸ I will also give that one the morning star. ²⁹ Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

To understand today’s emphasis on V27 you need the context from last week before it can be spelled out. Just remember this is Jesus speaking. Notice the one is singular. This is not plural. This is not addressing a group, it is not addressing an assembly, is not speaking of a portion or a whole, it is phrased in a manner that acknowledge a single person giving authority over the nations, plural. Now before we get into V27 let’s give the full picture of V26.

Let’s go back to jut what that entails. After the fall of the Tower of Babal, which was provoked by the end times preface of one world language, currency, government & worship, the tower falls & human beings are scattered across the earth. In this you also can see the birth of nations and the spread of what we know as spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

This is a connotation of authority over regions. A hierarchy of structured enemies of God.

Pay attention here, in the wilderness where Jesus was led by the Spirit to do battle with the enemy, the 3rd temptation is in Matthew 4:8-10  8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” 10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’

So what started at Babel perpetuated across the globe & the enemy claims he has authority over it. This regional spiritual mafia that battles in the heavenlies to further corrupt the sols of men by provoking our sin nature, specifically those who wield power politically & rogue judges who make laws from the bench, & turns the culture to embrace wickedness, rather than righteousness. Here in Revelation 2:27 the keys to authority are handed over. This invokes the following statement for V27. This verse references Revelation 12:5 and combines elements of Isaiah 30:14. Here is what they say. Rev 12:5 speaks of the woman & the dragon, She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.” And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne.

This means post ascension the heavenlies, then he will take His throne here on earth. But to do this Israel’s propaganda must be exposed in that they have declined the invitation of the appointed hour of the Messiah coming to them, there will be a reckoning.

Isaiah 30:14 The God of Israel addresses his people here going back to V12-14 “Because you have rejected this message, relied on oppression and depended on deceit, ¹³ this sin will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant. ¹⁴ It will break in pieces like pottery, shattered so mercilessly that among its pieces not a fragment will be found for taking coals from a hearth or scooping water out of a cistern.”

The lies will fall, the deception induced by the enemies of God that have lead those who do not follow Jesus will be revealed to the people because the truth is going to emerge piece by piece by piece that there is one, who came, there is one who did the work of God, that one was hung on a cross, died put in a tomb & rose on the 3^rd day.

For Revelation 2:27, this is what Jesus means, that one who was victorious, who overcame the world, overcame hell & the devil, he is going to rule and bring down the deception of who is the Messiah & the lies that have been spread generationally. Let’s go deeper.

Rule in Rev 12:5 used in Revelation 2:27 in HEB is poimainó & means shepherd, caring for, protecting the flock.

God is in the business of reclaiming the nations of the world from these regional spiritual fallen entities for himself. You see 1 John 3:8 The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. This meant he had to reclaim the dominion over the nations & that in this the influence over those nations are no longer affected by the enemies of God, and as V27 concludes Jesus by being successful received this authority from the Father.

It is the victory that we have hope in, it is the victory, we walk in. It is knowing with full legal authority, that our King is the King of kings, that our hope in not in this worldly authority but in the authority of the one who is victorious over the world!
