Here in America much of our corporate influence has pushed us to not work harder, work smarter, be all that you can be, Just do it and dictate that success in life is measured by your social-economic status, you material possessions, your network, your level of influence & too many of us have bought into it & it is a lie. None of this is scriptural. The previous two months you have been taught that you are in created with the capability to do exceptional things. But what about the Potter? If we are indeed clay at his wheel to mold shape & give purpose what about him? Last 9 weeks preached on the focus of the teachings was on you, the vessel now we turn to the Hand.
Remember we learned in Isaiah 64:8 Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand
Throughout scripture God has positioned himself as the one entity that from our inception to moving into eternal life there is a need for. How much did the Hand of God play a role in our lives? We need to understand this to have a further appreciate the role of the Hand of God in the lives God gave us in the 1st place. This series will dig into that. But we need to initially take our eyes off ourselves & be open to learning what the word of God has to say to us about his hand.
Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness (Psalm 48:10).
The Right hand is filled with righteousness, what does that mean. Some want their right hand to be filled with tortilla chips headed to a bowl of chili con queso. Dictionaries define righteousness as “behavior that is morally justifiable or right.” Such behavior is characterized by accepted standards of morality, justice, virtue, or uprightness. The Bible’s standard of human righteousness is God’s own perfection in every attribute, every attitude, every behavior, and every word.
This means that every action by the right hand is an action of righteousness. The attitude behind it is right standing, dignified & beneficial, now if you want to go deeper, the right hand possesses the character traits of God because obviously is of God. This means that the hand possesses the 3 Omni’s as well. Omnipresent, Omniscience, Omnipotent. This means the hand is not like you and I in way of capability. Further the hand of God operating in all places, in all power with full knowledge, with a upright moral standing does so in love (1 John 4).
This means when he had the vision for you he did so in love. But further Isaiah 48:13 , it is written, “Indeed, My hand laid the foundation of the earth, and My right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they stand up together.”
This means that the account of Genesis 1-2, the creation account was done by the hand of God. Some may say, scripture declares that it was spoken into existence. This is true, it was spoken into existence. So is this a contradiction? Why would it say in Isaiah by a prophet something different than the writings on Moses?
Because we need to understand the context. First hands cannot speak things into existence, they can shape, they can mold, they can speak with nonverbal communication language, but they cannot speak material into existence. This covers the heavens & the earth. So that covers everything right? So how can this be? Apostle John has the answer.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. John 1:1-3
This means that the spoke into existence was done by a hand that is righteous is by a him. That him is the Great I AM the Messiah, the King of kings. Y’shua. In the beginning was recorded time. Here the hand is recognized as the word. This description is the Logos of God the expression of a thought, a saying. So when he called it into existence, the all knowing sovereign Lord over creation knew the capability, the functionality, the purposes, the chemistry, the and the beyond micro level composition of the substance of the various forms of creation.
Further Apostle Paul speaks on this in Colossians 1: 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
This explanation goes beyond substance, it moves into the immaterial, giving credence to that we have more going on than what we can consume with our five sense. There is direct similarity between this list and what is seen in Ephesians 6 when Paul describes that our real war isn’t against flesh & blood. These are the angels who fell and followed a rogue choir boy known as the enemy that brought the disease of the sin nature to this existence.
All were created in love, all were created to dwell in harmony, all were created by the Hand of God for the crowning point of his achievement, mankind made in his image.
