1/24/26 The Understanding of the World view
As we continue the passage of John 3:16-21 the discourse continues with a commonly over looked theme. When I say this it is because sadly many proclaim that a NT portion of the Holy Bible is liberated from it, this theme is the legal aspects which are highly necessary to recognize to bring understanding in your Bible study.
The legal aspects of the word of God sadly are taught as just that which derived from Moses & OT books, but this is not accurate. When you see that the victory gifted to us in Christ & his work in fulfilling the legal perimeters are for the purpose of victory in heavenly courts. This is why in today’s portion of John 3:16-21 we look at V19 & tie it to the previous verses & bare the legal understandings that they have.
The sad reality is many of us are leading willful sinful lives leaning heavily on the grace of God not minding the command of the Lord to be holy before him. John 3:16 is a warming verse about the love gift of God, His Son Jesus Christ as the means to bridge the gap.
John 3:16-2116 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
Verdict, another instance of legal speak.-In the GR krisis judgment, emphasizing its qualitative aspect that can apply either to a positive verdict (for righteousness) – or more commonly, a “negative” verdict which condemns the nature of sin that brings it on. This is about judgment, it is about gathering the evidence & determining the guilt or innocence of the parties involved. In biblical terms it would read as the fruits of the people. You know what kind of person they are by the fruit they produce.
With this portion of the statement in the context of what was forementioned it means it is already decided. John already knew what was decided then mentioned light. Light- John’s narrative light came into the world Genesis 1. Jesus entered the world the exchange was giving up glory to dwell in the sewer of humanity. In GR phṓs (a neuter noun) – properly, light (especially in terms of its results, what it manifests); in the NT, the manifestation of God’s self-existent life; divine illumination to reveal and impart life, through Christ.
Light has many functions as light but here this meaning is lost by those who are literalist in their understanding of the English translations of the Bible. So many thinking this is no different than the sun or a fire or a bulb in a lamp, no this was about the manifestation of God’s self-existent life; divine illumination to reveal and impart life, through Christ. God enters into the material world for a specific reason. It became a sewer because darkness made it that way. Darkness in the heart of humanity. Light came into the world, this world, which was a mess that God made, that he brought to order because he had sentenced darkness to get out of his face & sent them here. ff
The intent of Eden was to develop the family of God. Adam & Eve were given the purpose to create the family of God by procreating & communing wit the Lord daily. The problem was darkness showed up in the form of a snake. This snake exploited the opportunity by offering Eve something she desired, and exploited Adam’s laziness. This fall brought contamination to us all. This only prompted the indulgence of self rather than Presence & knowledge of the Son of God. But simply knowing the Son of God is not enough. Running to darkness as it says we are drawn to it even within the presence of God & knowledge of who he is, not just Eden but here today.
When we run to darkness we run to condemnation. This means we run away from truth, love, hope, justification, sanctification, glorification. Darkness, you may ask as in the absence of light? OR is this something hidden in the translation from the original language? In the GR. skótos (a neuter noun) – properly, darkness (figuratively) the principle of sin with its certain results.
Running to darkness means engaging lies, despair, anger, despair, separation, disconnection with the one true God. You lose out on more than just fire insurance. You lose out on authority, you lose out on favor, you lose out on mercy. You lose out on hope, you lose out on heavenly access. There is an engagement system in you as a child of God which when you properly surrender is going to lead you to a purging that is for your own good & a change away from the godliness intended for you. This engaging system is the Holy Spirit. Look at the verse, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. This indicates that the light, divine illumination is being ignored.
Light is a fire, that fire guides us. Communicates with us & gives us truth.
The problem this verse tells us is that we are not in the know, we are just more motivated to stay & wallow in our sin than to embrace the cleansing power of the blood of Christ. So in 2026 there is an understanding we must have that something needs to be corrected, it is the tendency to love darkness & display this in our actions. If you want to be different in this place choose that. Choose running to light instead of darkness, choose serving rather than being self-centered, choose godliness instead of bowing to the culturally acceptable nonsense that leads to ruin.
2026 can be so much better for us all if we choose to walk in the light rather than running to the darkness.
