Today’s message is a rare stand alone message. It is not common that I am able to present in this manner while not trying to achieve Biblical understanding in a more broad sense in compilations that comprise a series. Today the Lord has led to draw in something that is upon us to create a broader understanding to build expectations. This message is prophetic but not in a topic often taught because it is not a topic of physical drama, rather it is a prophecy about life changing fulfillment.
As we get warmed up here, there is a need to point out scriptures that are linked but it is rare to hear their respective connections & further to see the birth of or the fulfillment to. As we build this, & that is exactly what we are going to do please have you mind attuned to the willingness to learn & the openness to see how we as the Children of God can be operating better, more successful in the Christian life achieving the true Christian ideals of success. These ideals are not corporate mindset goals. These goals are spiritually based goals in which we can apply to scripture to have the proper based ideals as to what success in God’s eyes properly is. First let’s go to Matthew 24. This chapter is a very comprehensive chapter of multiple instances which will occur & a roadmap of knowing what to expect next. It is also in Luke 21 & Mark 13.
Matthew 24 typically emphasizes grand disasters as presented from the pulpit regarding wars, earthquakes, betrayal, famine, & false messiahs among others. Here we are going to focus on what Jesus said in Matthew 24:14: And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
There is a misunderstanding, a misrepresentation of this statement by Jesus, that has ties throughout the NT authors & is based in the OT from a minor prophet. Jesus declares that the news of who he is, what he did & how it benefits us will be shared globally. There are a few factors that go into this being achieved, but there is no understanding really given as to what the outcome is. This is a spiritual directive, which means the Holy Spirit is going to be a means as to how this is achieved. In the physical it is achieved through missionary journeys from those who know. It is also achieved through technology with smartphones. Remember the message is for us outside of Israel, but not to us initially, because odds are if you are a child of God listening to me you are a gentile, so it applies to you.
The purpose of the gospel was further spelled out 4 chapters later in Matthew 28. Jesus on a beach, showing the disciples he was risen, & directing their futures. While they were enjoying fish & chips. Matthew 28:18-20 “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
The authority in all areas of creation is a legal authority in V18, but V19 is based on the acquisition of this legal authority. The directive based on the authority is to send the disciples out & Paul to come to make disciples globally, baptizing them in the name of each respective member of the Trinity. The latter we are not going to focus on rather it is not having a factual knowledge of who Jesus is but a discipling, with a teaching under the leading of those with sound knowledge & experience but notice the promise of what Jesus says here. His presence. Faith to them, while they do this until the end of the age.
There are some commonalities here between the two passages. 1. The spread of the gospel, 2. the scope is global & 3. There is an end. In Matthew 24 it is just the end will come, in Chapter 28 it is until the end of the age. The message is consistent & that is what he is saying in Matthew 24. The age he is referring to is the age of grace, the church age. The move is of God is to take the awakening of his love & move it globally starting with these 11 & Paul to do so.
The next move of God came in Acts 2:1-4 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, inset in those who are the children of God. This is why the 1 John 4:4 has power: the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
Because it is based on authority.
So going back to Acts 2, Peter brought up something to a very diverse audience during Pentecost after the Spirit inset him. Peter quotes the minor prophet Joel specifically from chapter 2 in Acts 2:“‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
Interesting he starts with this group in his 1st sermon with prophecy. It did not necessarily pertain to them in that time frame, but that does not mean that they did not think it did. What he just experienced was the Spirit pouring itself out & while many experts would agree with that it was not a full fulfillment of the prophecy because it was not the last days. The prophecy indicated that old, young, male, female, rich, poor will be touched by this.
When you understand that the filling of the Spirit has multiple purposes & functions you can grasp the breadth of this prophecy & why it is important in the here & now. 1. The receipt of the spiritual purchase of your life from death to life by the blood of Jesus. 2. Guide, counsel, direct you the child of God for the fulfillment of your calling 3. To operate in the authority of Jesus (remember he has it in full) to fulfill the prophecy in Matthew 24, & the efforts of the Great Commandment given to us to create disciples, not conversions. This is done with the help of Holy Spirit in order to lead mankind into proper understanding of the knowledge of the saving grace of God through Jesus Christ is more than about the self. We are called to used to bring the knowledge & training to those around us.
Romans 11:25 Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in,
This is not a set number, do not be misled by preacher who do not look deeper into the context of what is spoke by the author. The Greek term often translated “fullness” (πλήρωμα, plērōma) carries connotations of “completion,” “fulfillment,” or “the sum total.” In the New Testament, it can describe something that has reached its intended capacity or goal. Here in Romans 11:25, “fullness” refers to the completion of God’s purpose for bringing Gentile (non-Jewish) believers into His covenant community.is maturity in order to achieve the goal We can learn here that maturity & knowledge is needed to enrich faith so that we can be seen by those around us & they want what we have in the relationship with the Messiah.
Here is the final portion of why all I have just explained to you is so valuable. There is a great number of Christians out there who go to churches who do not teach the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives to achieve the task as given in Ephesians 4:29-32 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
This passage is about relationships. Both to effect those you encounter & with God. Notice what is stated in V30. It is possible to grieve God. In the GR this is lupeó The verb denotes emotional pain that can be self-experienced (“be grieved”) or caused in another (“cause grief”). It ranges from momentary distress to deep, lingering sorrow and is always moral or relational in tone, never merely clinical. The 11 disciples & the one who emerged all operated by faith in the life death resurrection of Messiah & sadly we have too many churches who are grieving the Holy Spirit because the saints are not being trained, educated or aware of what following Jesus really means, & why Holy Spirit is so very important.
In our current time frame there is a subtle revival that had emerged in 2024 across campuses in the SE USA & Midwest. Campus officials did not know what to do with it after it became known through social media. In the Mid East Muslims in Iran are converting because of Holy Spirit speaking to them, Jesus emerging in visions to reveal to them. In China, thousands are coming to Christ because of access to YouTube & seeing gospel programming making them aware of who Jesus is & the teachings of Christianity. Across the USA since the death of Charlie Kirk, sales of Bibles has skyrocketed, & campuses are allowing guest speakers to debate the gospel, just as he did.
Loved ones, this is the fulfillment of the Joel 2 prophecy because the end is about to come.
