We often wonder what is my purpose, why am I here? Today we will continue the series and expand on what we have learned thus far as we clear the confusion on what the Bible has to say on this. According to the word of God, we are fearfully & wonderfully made, meaning created to fulfill special purposes and common use while holding reverence to God himself. We have learned we were merely a vision then created from the dust of the earth & intricately formed in the womb of our mother. and you have emerged, emerged as more than this, according to Ps 139 & Romans 9 we are all now clay in the potters hand. Last wk we learned there is more than just special purposes and common use, it takes a connection with the Almighty to be able to reach our created potential. If we want to be more than just alive, if we want to live in the fullest, we have to consider this connection.
“And the vessel he was making of clay was marred in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.” – Jeremiah 18:4
In this verse either it fell, out of his hands, or from the beam on which it was laid; or was spoiled by some means or other, so that it was not fit for the purpose he first intended. The clay is marred, this is the GR shahkhath DECAY.
There are a few applications to consider here by it traveling out of his hands. God does not drop us, no we drop him. This could be our fallen nature taking us out of the reverence of God and all He has done and provided. As unsaving ourselves because we are too driven by the world and want it more than we want him. This is doing away with the truth of life and embracing the myths of the world such as becoming an atheist or pursuing other faith systems that have no merit because they have nothing to show for.
The second example is the age of accountability. We reach an age out of our childhood where God, knowing the heart examines it and releases you of your lack of ignorance of his truth. The accountability falls on us for what we know, so similar to the first example the lures of the world are strong enough to convince us that the foundation of our faith is flawed, and we are all merely accidents so we should devour in a selfish fashion & operate in an ideology of survival of the fittest.
As you have been taught in this series, the devil runs this place. We operate in a world of deception, lies, greed, pride and lust, and the devil tries every day to convince you that life is only about you. There is a resistance in this world, a resistance because we are our own people or so we think. The battle is from within. An enemy a familiar voice we thought was a friend. But once we know that truth, children of God created for special purposes. This struggle is perpetuated by the sin nature. We recognize something has to come to an end. We learn truth but we hear the lies whispered from within. And the fight begins.
We are all familiar with the fight inside coursing through our veins. The infected blood contaminated at birth. How do we possibly escape after we have fallen from the Potters hands?
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10
Remember you are at the hand pf the Potter, God himself, his workmanship from soul to physical being created for the purpose of emulating Christ Jesus. God loves his Son so much he made replicas without the power and capability. But he wants you to replicate the good works Jesus did. Jesus stood for truth, the things of God. Not the things of man. He knew that this place was nothing like what he designed it to be. He knew the struggle and said he knew the hearts of men.
See if you are going to emulate him do the good works as him then he has to understand what its like to be you. We are talking the Almighty, sovereign being who operates outside of time space and matter knowing you & understanding why you feel what you feel & the judgments & decisions you make. Remember he constructed you. Made you exclusive as there is only one you in all of creation.
He lets you stay on the shelf, to show that off, but too many of us fall and hit the floor thinking it is better there than in the Potters hand. When we decide to strive for something better. To achieve the special purposes he we have to go back to Jeremiah. He reworks it into another vessel, this is an alteration, by the divine hand of God! What is this he makes us into?
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
This is how we get started, get set apart for these special purposes. The capability is there, but you need to have the sin nature syphoned from your veins. You need to become something that without starting over you would not have before. That is achieved when you let the Potter fill you with the Holy Spirit.
Remember last week, a pot holds stuff. Without it is just empty inside.
- Are you empty inside? Do you want to replace this fear, take the nothingness from you?
- Do you want to rise? Do you want to shine?
- Maybe you need the Potter,
- God himself to set you on a course to show you of how awesome he can be by what he does with you.
When you become a new creation get ready because your world will change!
