4/18/26 – 6 Pts. From Galatians VI
In the 6th chapter of Galatians Paul gives us a warning that echoes What Jesus said in Matthew 24 as an end times sign. This sign is so subtle it seems only I am preaching on it & few people it seems are aware that it is being fulfilled.
7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
There is a deception emanating that there are shortcuts the Lord has designed that means you do not have to work for a harvest. The prosperity gospel has people waiting for their financial break through because they believe & buy into that lie. While the Lord has plans to prosper us & not to crush us this does not mean financially is the manner in which it’ll occur.
Does this mean that if you give to the Lord, he does not give you a harvest in a similar vein? No, it just may not be what you expect. But the reward, the benefit isn’t always guaranteed because if you are planting those seeds that does not always mean you are going to get a harvest. TO gain a harvest you have to prepare the soil, you have to work it. The soil needs opened up. The soil needs decontamination which means pulling weeds. The soil needs nourished with water & minerals. This means you have to work it the problem is those who chase the blessing are not doing what they can to wait for God to provide it because their hearts are wrong.
Preacher you mean that makes a difference? It makes all the difference.
8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
We covered last week what the flesh represents here. We also showed you how there is a connection between your flesh and the elemental spiritual forces. The real question here is what is driving your want? This is the stated warning to those who are sowing from the wrong motive to the wrong field. The motive is the key component because that leads to what you reap. Destruction is appointed to those who are willing to sow to the flesh. This is something that many believe attributes to hell, but does it?
I mean if you look at those how are sowing for a physical profit then can we take their rationalize that this destruction would be reaped in the physical as well. We cannot assume that this reaping in the spiritual will only reap in the physical. Look at what the verse says. It is very clear that there are 2 different fields. These fields are the flesh & the Spirit, as stated one reaps destruction & one reaps eternal life. This means that it affects both realms. There is a dual benefit, there is a dual penalty depending on where you are sowing to. The question we have to ask is what area are we looking to please? What is the motive behind our sowing.
Go back to last wk & what it is stated in Gal 5:21. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
It seems to coincide with what we are told in Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Remember what we learned last wk. you are getting an inheritance. That inheritance comes in eternity. That is spiritual in nature realized in the future beyond time, beyond the material, in eternity. This law is a spiritual law, but it applies to the physical as well. This law applies to our everyday life & approaches. Seed-time-harvest is something that only in very rare cases does not apply, which is why waiting is something we dread. The enemy uses waiting to make us frustrated, if you want proof, look at the next verse.
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Why does this say this? Let’s DIG DEEP there are two things we should touch on. First doing good is essential in your sowing. This is the labor that we have to put into our investment. The complication is we think that this is what society deems as good, not necessarily what God deems as good. Many of us have invested in this fashion in their lives by loving their neighbor, being a friend to those who need a friend, providing for those who are having troubles getting what they need. The serving of God is necessary in our approach to sowing for the purpose of reaping.
Second, if you are growing weary that means you are going to wait, because everything about God’s Kingdom is seed-time-harvest. The enemy has shifted our societal norm that
- The average human attention span is only 8.25 seconds, which is less than the goldfish’s 9-second attention span. influenced by the increasing distractions on the internet, social media, and the environment.
- The attention span of teenagers increases with age. The average 14-year-old teenager has a 28 to 42 minute attention span, and the average 16-year-old teenager has a 32 to 48 minute attention span.
- Gender appears to influence attention span as well. Girls performed better in distractibility and impulsive reaction tendencies.
- Multitasking often leads to increased stress, fatigue, and reduced productivity.
- Prolonged screen time can have adverse effects on mental health, with 42% of individuals using electronic devices reporting experiencing adverse effects.
The final Pt. of Galatians is
- You will reap what is sown.
Keep in mind Deception is highly prevalent
And we must not lose our way that God cannot be mocked
