4/12/25 The Divine Perspective

AS we continue series from book of Colossians starting chapter 3. All notes can be found at Deadlifter.org. Let’s talk point of view. A great chasm of understanding is lost through not understanding the point of view in which the communicator is giving the message from. I am here today to give you an understanding as to how the Lord himself would want you to see your situations through. Paul peaks of this but instead of jumping right in he sets the stage by addressing your location. But even before we can get to that we must understand the context from which he speaks. Because again we must understand his point of view before we can understand the true essence of what he is saying. To do this you go back to chapter 2 where he addresses the push of deceptive hollow philosophy and the lure to let it influence the church since it sounds logical. Pastor Epaphras was not the source for this, so it was listening to the society that was beckoning them away. Physically you are here on earth, some of you go to church but the true you is not your body. The true you is not your heart despite hearing home is where the heart is at.

Living as Those Made Alive in Christ

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Wait I thought he was talking to a congregation in Colossae? Were they raptured? Not exactly. You see loved ones you are here but that is not where you are at. If you do Christianity right you carry your cross daily and follow Jesus. Paul sets this idea up when he declared in V8 & V20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, (covered last week) you have been died & resurrected with Jesus. Set your hearts on things above? Proper translation says IF you then have been raised with Christ the things above seek where Christ is at right hand of God sitting.  The heart is not mentioned, the intentionality is. Seek the things where Christ is. Seek the incorruptible untainted state of the Presence of the Trinity. So get your heart out of it. The heart is deceitful. Jeremiah 17:9. Seek where Christ is. Your greatest aspiration should be that and it starts with your mind.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

This translation is correct. How you think, your point of view makes all the difference. All the difference when you have a heavenly point of view. How do you see things in this world? Through the narratives they world promote. The lies that you have been told your whole life by the MSM, medical community, the government, education? OR do you see things through a heavenly lens? How prone are you to react due to fear? The word of God says fear not! This place is a state of consistent change away from the things of God, but heaven does not change heaven stays in the presence of God! Remember the call for Chapter 2 V20. You died to with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world.

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

Now you understand why this is reinforced. The physical effect of the world should sway you, but the spiritual effect should be anchored in Christ. Loved ones you are in the world not of it. Merely wandering through. When you set your mind that you are dead to the world your heart may get hurt, but your spiritual third is going to rejoice because you are in the Presence. Peace is yours. Rest is yours. Your voice is heard. Your prayers are heard. The keeper of your soul is your host and you are not far from Him. There you have a destiny. There you have something you and the rest of us are waiting on. All of creation is waiting on the return of Jesus. Peter said in Acts 10:42 that he will judge the living and the dead. How can that be if the day of judgement is at the end of time? Because it comes when he returns.

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

When this occurs. When he returns, you will be with him. Revelation 20 declares when he returns he will not be alone. When he sets up for judgment he has a workforce who will serve him. He has to close out the final chapters of human history. He has to fulfill all the prophecies. He has a purpose even in the afterlife of eternity for you. You will serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, you will be a part of the heavenly army who will witness the downfall of the kingdom of darkness, you will witness the capture of the AntiChrist and the false prophet, you will be at his beck and call.

So when you set your minds on things above when you see through the Divine perspective you can gain the inspiration that after this life, after the rapture, after the wedding supper of the lamb you have a purpose where evil cannot touch you where the effects of the fallen nature won’t stir you, where you will be called on to be at the side of the King and fulfill his direct orders for judgement. Divine perspective tells you there is more to this life than just this physical material world and it is covered in the divine favor of God!
