1/31/26 The Difference of the World View

Last wk as we were reaching the conclusion we spoke on one of the purposes of Holy Spirit in the face of the corruption of mankind from within us, in the context of drawing from John 3:16. As our series spotlights John 3:16 in proper context by taking the following five verses into account from a proper world view for 2026.

John 3:16-2116 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

There is a word switch here that is oft overlooked because it is assumed in meaning. It is a word used in the previous verse covered last week. Last week it was V19 where people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds are evil. It is chronically assumed here that darkness equates to evil through symbolism. There is a hidden component that I intentionally withheld for this point this week. Let’s review.

Darkness defined In the GR. skótos (a neuter noun) – properly, darkness (obscurity); (figuratively) the principle of sin with its certain results.

Obscurity is a key word here because it has two profound meanings, the absence of light or the quality or condition of being unknown. Could this darkness that lends to evil actions be driven by obscurity of the light? Let’s examine this by continuing the review.

Light defined In GR phṓs (a neuter noun) – properly, light (especially in terms of its results, what it manifests); in the NT, the manifestation of God’s self-existent life; divine illumination to reveal and impart life, through Christ.

Does light hide in obscurity from darkness? Absolutely not, it is a law of nature that light forces darkness to hide. It has to surrender once light emerges. Darkness cannot coexist in the same area as light. It can only claim the area where the effect of light diminishes. But where light is, it is sovereign in its affect comparatively. We can relate to this simply by our dependency on light in our everyday affairs, whether in our own home, traveling the streets, or in more adventurous circumstances such as hiking, or spelunking in a cave. Complete darkness in a cave creates circumstances that can render mankind nearly completely helpless. But when you bring light into a cave it reveals the terrain.

Revealing, this is where we are headed to gain the full understanding as to what this means. Let me go deeper.

Notice the promise of audience verse 16. World For God so loved the world. V17 the scope is still the world because the Son of God did not come to condemn the world but save the world through himself. However the switch comes in V18 to whoever believes. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is where the separation sets in the condemned & those who are not. Last week we got in to 2 new words Light & Darkness, the difference here is there are those who are not included.

The light & the obscurity is not given a gap that is too hard to comprehend, it is a concept we can easily understand but this concept of this passage has a depth not often recognized because the ID is based on the evidence of action.

Everyone who does evil hates the light and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.

It is not that the light is obscured by those who conduct actions that hate the light, oh no, it is that they operate in obscurity so the intent of their hearts is not known. The verse declares Darkness hates the light. Cannot coexist if the premise for the gift of verse 16. Is it was given in love then hate here is to give a gift totally opposing that love. Because we must understand further that the exposure itself is more than just being found out that they hate, because when we go back to the meaning of light here it is more than just being known as a cheat, liar, or thief.

The purpose is to see us separated, without separation we lose truth, we lose hope, we lose success in the eyes of God, we lose the privilege of being used by God to affect the lives of others. We lose obviously eternal closeness with God. Evil is done by us all- or fall short of the glory of God. Evil is unrighteousness.

The nature is to operate in secrecy or and cultural acceptance but when the light hits it it’s exposed with truth and the truth exposes the corruption exposes the predator. Because when we look at light as it is in the meaning here we see that those who operate in obscurity here hate not just light as it says here but the Presence of God as it means here. They hate that there is a god, who has a Son who is God who came to give them truth, give them hope, give them, the privilege of being used by God to affect the lives of others.

When you hate the Presence of God you are hating your intended purpose to be in the family of God, you are hating what success truly is in his eyes & are operating in & for the lies of the world. But when you chose the Son of God, you are accepting the gift that saves you from the corruption of the world because He has overcome the world.
